Congressmen David Rouzer of North Carolina (NC-07) and Filemón Vela Jr. of Texas (TX-34) introduced the Emergency Assistance for Rural Water Systems Act today.
A panel of wastewater and public health experts has determined that occupational risk of COVID-19 infection for wastewater workers is low. The panel also found that standard wastewater treatment processes inactivate the virus and additional research should be conducted to further increase understanding of hazards and protections for personnel.
As many of you know, each year the New York Rural Water Association distributes one-time grants to five students across New York State valued at $500.00 each to help defray the cost of tuition, books, or room and board at an accredited institution of higher learning approved by the NYRWA.
