NYRWA Announces Upcoming Webinars

In an attempt to meet the training needs of our members, NYRWA staff have been working diligently to develop webinar style recertification training. Currently, the regulatory agencies are not reviewing courses for approval. Without pre-approval, there is no guarantee contact hours will be awarded. However, our staff have made every effort to select topics that have previously been approved for classroom training, therefore we anticipate approval once the state resumes course review.

This is a new endeavor for our staff and the association that we take solely to meet the needs of our members. NYRWA will provide these webinar courses free of charge. Currently, we are offering the sessions listed below anticipating 2 contact hours for water recertification per session:

Date: 5/21/2020 12:00 – 2:15 pm

Topic(s): Iron and Manganese Removal / Dealing with Water Hardness

Speaker: Rich Ross, PE and Matt Williams, PE - WesTech Engineering, Inc.

The first hour of this presentation will be a discussion on Iron and Manganese removal including: removal options, treatment challenges, chemistry/process design equipment and current regulations limits. At the end of the first hour there will be a Q&A session followed by a 15-minute break.

The second hour will cover “Dealing with Water Hardness” including: terms of hardness, types of softening treatment processes, ion exchange and reverse osmosis for municipalities. At the end of the second hour there will be a Q&A session.

Topic(s): Technology in the Waterworks Industry

Speaker: Nicholas Bates, Everett J. Prescott Inc.

This presentation will include multiple types of technology, and how they can benefit a municipality with daily tasks and projects including: the basic functions, along with technical information. It will also cover software and hardware options for all the categories which include GIS, Remote Monitoring, Leak Detection, and 3D Scanning.
