Former Executive Director for the Albany County Sewer District Wm. Greene has passed away

William J. Greene, of Kinderhook passed away October 28, 2013 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Born April 24, 1941 in Hudson, he was the son of the late William and Marjorie (Whitbeck) Greene. He graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Vermont in 1964 and subsequently received a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from RPI in 1972. William was licensed as a Professional Engineer and Land Surveyor. He was the Executive Director of the Albany County Sewer District for many years before retiring in 1996. He also did consulting work and land surveying in the area for many years. William was a life member and past President of Edmunds Hose in Hudson, a past Trustee and member of the Hudson Elks Lodge # 787 and a life member of the Kinderhook Elks Lodge # 2530.

 

He is survived by his wife Jane (Zola) Greene, 5 Children; William S. Greene of Kinderhook, Robert T. Greene of Belmont, ME, Christine J. Campion, Daniel J. Greene and Peter C. Greene all of Kinderhook, 2 sisters; Lucinda Yusko of Raleigh, NC, and Elizabeth Alecksynas of Kinderhook, 7 grandchildren; Bradley, Christopher and Daniel Greene, Caitlyn Rahilly, Hannah and Ali Greene and Stephen Campion, 1 great grandson; Lennon Greene and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

All those who knew William are invited to attend a graveside service at 11:00 AM on Saturday in the Hudson Cedar Park Cemetery. Private family services will be held at his home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Columbia Greene Humane Society, 125 Humane Society Road, Hudson NY 12534 or St. Judes Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Dept 142, Memphis TN 38101-9908. Arrangements are with the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Valatie.
