The Westchester County Department of Health is currently recruiting for several Public Health Engineers at multiple levels.
Appointments and salary will be commensurate with documented training, experience, certification and/or licensure. These are Civil Service positions that will require the successful candidate to be appointed from a list of eligible candidates, following examination.
Public Health Engineers oversee and participate in a wide variety of public health programs including water quality and pollution control, public water supply, land development, solid waste and air pollution control, as they work within the Bureau of Environmental Quality in the Westchester County Department of Health. Incumbents ensure that operations consistently meet regulatory requirements at the local, county, state and federal level.
Depending on appointed level, supervision may be exercised over professional, and technical staff members.
There are multiple pathways to meet minimum qualifications that rise with an increase in compensation and responsibility. However, at a minimum, we are seeking candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and at least two years of experience in public health, sanitary, environmental or chemical engineering.
