Five Regions of New York State on Drought Watch List
NYSDEC recently expanded its Drought Watch to the Southern Tier drought region, which is comprised of Cattaraugus, Allegany, Steuben, and Chemung counties. A Drought Watch issued in July for the Long Island, Upper Hudson/Mohawk, Adirondacks, and Great Lakes/St. Lawrence drought regions remains in place.

Blue-Ribbon Panel: Coronavirus Risks Low for Wastewater Workers
A panel of wastewater and public health experts has determined that occupational risk of COVID-19 infection for wastewater workers is low. The panel also found that standard wastewater treatment processes inactivate the virus and additional research should be conducted to further increase understanding of hazards and protections for personnel.
