Water Treatment Plant Operator

The Mohawk Valley Water Authority located in Utica, New York is accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the position of Water Filtration Plant Operator. All vacancies will be filled from this list. At the present time one (1) vacancy exists.
The selected individual shall operate and control water plant facilities such as: filtration and pumping of water; making and interpreting periodic chemical tests; making adjustments in filtration rates; checking and selecting pumps to operate; making adjustments in chemical feed rates; and, maintenance of plant and equipment.  In general, the operator shall perform all the necessary functions in the production of potable water.  The selected individual must possess normal physical abilities required in hands-on operation of the above-listed job duties; be alert to ever changing problems of water purification; and, possess a good working knowledge of operational practices and maintenance problems and have the ability to keep accurate and complete records.  The Water Filtration Plant Operator reports to the Chief Operator and/or the Assistant Chief Operator of the Water Filtration Plant.
 
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/ LICENSES
The selected applicant must possess a High School Diploma or GED, a New York State IA or IIA operators license is desirable. The applicant must possess a valid New York State Drivers license at the time of application and maintain same throughout employment.

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
