Temporary Position Available with NY Rural Water Association
The NY Rural Water Association is looking to fill a temporary position beginning June 2010 to fulfill a contract in progress. The position is an American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Circuit Rider full time position. This is a temporary position, ideal for someone retired that is willing and able to travel. The territory to cover would be west of Utica to Buffalo.
The person we are seeking to fill this vacancy would begin with some training provided by the National Rural Water Association in Anaheim, CA this June. The ARRA Circuit Riders are required to visit with 35 small community systems each month on-site providing assistance with the application process, reporting, checking on the progress of projects receiving ARRA funding, helping to move projects and applications forward. They will also assist through the construction phase of the projects. This Circuit Rider will work closely with USDA, Rural Development offices across the state of New York. Travel is a must and computer knowledge for completing detail reports is essential.
The contract is good through October 31st, 2010, although there is a good possibility of the continuation of this program through another year.
The individual hired for this position must have a minimum multi-year experience in operating and/or managing a rural and/or community water system or equivalent experience. The ARRA Circuit Rider shall possess knowledge of operations and maintenance to include the ability to identify, locate, and explain water and wastewater problems to field personnel and decision makers and possess a well rounded knowledge of rural and small community water system operations, management, financial needs and methods of meeting those needs.
